i was just wondering if anyone has any experience of having a polyp removed from cervix please?

i had a large polyp removed from my cervix 11 days ago and just waiting on my results. My aftercare was very vague, mentioned some mild pain and discharge for a couple of days and told to avoid sex and Tampons for couple weeks. 
Anyway I had experienced light bleeding for one week after the removal, so did ring doctors to see if that was normal, they didn't seem concerned and told me to just keep an eye on it and only ring back if it's very heavy or if I have a fever. The bleeding stopped on Friday morning (thank goodness) but I started my period on Saturday night which is much heavier and more painful that what's normal for me. So wonder if it's encouraging my cervix to bleed as well maybe. It's not heavy enough to be worried, but I'm used to light periods normally , so I'm uncomfortable as can't use tampons at the moment. 
So was wondering if anyone else would be able to share their experiences please. I was expecting to be healed by now.
