Biopsy hard due to tough tissue

I had mammogram/ultrasound/biopsy today after I found a small lump. The consultant said she is pretty sure that there is something there and that the lump is an enlarged lymph node. They really struggled to get the biopsy because the tissue is so tough.
I know you can't diagnose but does anyone have any experience of this? Is it s a bad sign?  Can't seem to get a hold of my emotions at the moment

    Hi Renpen,

Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your breast concerns and, to hear that your consultant is pretty sure that there is something there. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and, on both occasions, my consultants told me that they suspected cancer. Unfortunately, my tests showed both were correct and I was duly diagnosed with cancer. Six months after my first diagnosis, I found a lump in my other breast. My second surgeon suspected that this might also be cancerous, but fortunately, my tests proved him wrong and it was just a benign lump.

I guess that what I'm' saying is that there is no way to be sure, until you get your results back. However, some doctors are quite accurate with recognising cancers. I suspect that, when they're working with cancer patients for many  years, they can almost smell it at twenty paces.

Controling your emotions whilst you are waiting for a diagnosis is almost impossible. Try to keep busy whilst you are waiting. This doesn't all have to involve hard work. Do something that you enjoy doing. Also, try to stay clear of consulting 'Dr Google'. Much of his information is poorly researched, inaccurate, out of date and aimed at the spectacular and, it can leave you considerably more scared.

Waiting for results is one of the hardest part of our cancer journeys, as there are so many unknowns associated with this. Regardless of the outcome, you will find it easier to cope with once you know what you are coping with.

Do please stay in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
