Breakthrough bleeding worried

Hello everyone. So where do I start......

Last year after finally seeing a doctor who actually listened to me after years of abdominal pain, I got given an urgent referral due to her seeing abnormalities. I got my appointment within a week of being referred and was told all was fine. Not to panic. However he did feel endometriotic nodules. I was then put on the waiting list for a laparoscopy. I had the coil fitted at the same time. Even though afterwords I was told he nearly perforated me due to cervix opening being incredibly small. I had lots and lots of adhesions removed and confirmation of the nodules in pouch of douglas.

I was then put on zoladex (chemical menopause)

During my treatment my coil dropped 3cm into my cervix. So that was removed after I complained about pain in cervix, lower back and legs for 4 months.

I had breakthrough bleeds every other month and twice in december lasting up to 6 days at a time (my usual period lasted 4-5 days) I got concerned and told the gynecologist bleeding like this is not normal for me. He told me it's not normal but can happen. Continue with zoladex for 1 more year. By this time I had been on it 8 months already. Treatment of this for endometriosis is 6 months.

I was not happy with how I had been treated and ignored I asked my GP to refer me to a specialist for endometriosis which he did. I had to have a telephone consultation due to the current pandemic and was told again breakthrough bleeding as often as I had had it wasn't normal and I shouldn't have been on zoladex that long. He changed me to cerazette pill which I am currently on. And booked me in for transvaginal scan which during the scan the lady told me everything looked fine. I had another bleed last month going into this month. It lasted 11 days. My longest yet. I then started bleeding again last week. Which lasted 4 more days.

I contacted the new hospital to let him know it's happening again. They called me 4 times yesterday whilst I was at work and emailed me to call them as soon as I can. They've booked me in a telephone consultation for 1.5 weeks time.

I'm so so scared. What if they've looked more in depth at the scan and seen something which will be why I'm bleeding? I know this sounds strange but I hurt "in there" too when I walk and also sit. My legs hurt. My lower back hurts. My lower right side pelvis area always hurts to the point I'm sometimes doubled over in pain and sometimes my left will hurt. I'm bloated in and off. I'm constantly exhausted. I generally feel crap.

My older sister died from breast and lung cancer Christmas day 2019, so I'm very scared.

Sorry for going on......

  • Hello AlbertsMummy

I'm so sorry to hear about all the health problems that you've been dealing with over the past few years. It's good to hear that you were able to have an appointment with an endometriosis specialist. I'm presuming from your post that this is who you have your upcoming appointment with.

It's natural that you're feeling worried about things, especially when you've lost your sister to cancer, but try to stay positive. Your most recent scan didn't raise any areas of concern and hopefully your new Consultant will be able to offer you some reassurance and recommend further treatment options for you.

    Best wishes,
