33 year old male - breast lumps - worried sick

Hi guys,

Posting here is evidence of just how stressed I am about this.

I'm 33, been taking medication for hair loss for 5 plus years that commonly cause gynecomastia. Seeing minor breast growth over the years has been emotionally damming and I'm a worrier at the best of times. I've seen three doctors. Two of which said it was nothing to worry about.

The third was this week. He had a feel around and agreed that there's a lump. He said it's routine to fast track me for a scan that'll check breast cancer. During the evaluation he checked under my arms and neck and was satisfied. However in the days since, my arm on the same side as the lump feels bruised after him examining. Now of course my brain has gone into overdrive and I'm having to wait 2 weeks before I see or hear off anyone.

I'm sorry for the long post. I'm just worried sick.

  • Hello Mrworrybags,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with this health concern for some time. We know that waiting for appointments and test results can be a particularly difficult time for many people and it's natural for your mind to worry about all the possible outcomes. Try to keep busy and take things a day at a time.

The majority of people referred to the hospital with breast lumps do not go on to be diganosed with cancer. Hopefully this specialist scan will give you the reassurance that you need.

    Best wishes,
