Accidental Lump Find in throat

Hi,

My husband gets lipomas everywhere during the investigation of these a CT scan picked up on a small lump in his throat, which at the time doctors seemed more concerned about than other lumps.

Was told he would be refered for endoscopy procedure but heard nothing since beginning of April.

On hindsight he did clear is throat a lot and it would randomly become hoarse at times this has gotten much worse especially after a meal and has sore throat a lot.

Contacted GP today to follow up and told that endoscopy has over 6000 patients waiting to be seen and she would be referring him for urgent ENT appointment. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what to expect?

Thanks in advance for any responses

  • Hello Nicc8687

I'm sorry to hear that your husband's CT scan picked up an area that needs further investigation. It's natural that you're feeling concerned about things particularly as you've not heard anything else.

Hopefully as your GP has referred him urgently the ENT specialists will be able to look at those scan results and arrange for him to be seen sooner.

Do let us know how he gets on.

    Best wishes,

Seen ENT surgeon and had camera put down nose and throat.

Was told it may be tracheal cancer. Never said it may be something else.

Tumor is on outer wall of trachea protuding in. Will be seen within a month to be put to sleep for biopsy as well as get a another CT scan since the last one was in March.

Really Worried about outcome and the effect this will have on him and our 3 young children.

Hate the unknown and you just have to carry on your life as normal until we have concrete information and what the next step will be. Keep telling myself and my husband that knowing him it will be some rare benign tumor as he seems to get rare things like his previous angiolipomas as the thought of it actually being cancer is scary.
