Is this normal for results??

Hi, sorry this may be a long post but very confused at the moment.
my father has two large solid lumps in his neck he's 72, he went ot the doctors about it and he had biopsy's taken within a week, this was 3 weeks ago, they said he would have the results within 2-3 days instead a week later they call him in for a ct scan, I then called the consultants secretary who said yes they had the results of the biopsy's but awaiting an mri scan this mri scan was due his Sunday gone and then consultant would give us results, today he has had a phone call to say he is to go in for a pet scan next week yet still no mention of results or what we are dealing with, just scan after scan week after week. They said today after pet scan we await those results then will book in to discuss with consultant. So this will be another two weeks, so nearly 6 weeks after having the biopsy's and being told they have the results and dad being sent in for scan after scan for reason we do not know and we still are completely in the dark. Obviously judging by the amount of scans and the speed they are going I can see this is unlikely good but surely they would give us an indication as its driving dad mad knowing he's had biopsy's a good while back and still but being told anything. Hope this makes sense and if this is normal or anyone had similiar expererinces thank you for taking the time to read this xxx

  • Hello Ami87,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope it won't take too long for the results to come through. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you with all these scans and as you are waiting to find out more. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine for your dad.

    Best wishes,
