Tonsil cyst that won't clear

So about a month ago I had this feeling like a hair stuck at the back of my throat permanently. I thought nothing of it.

Then it progressed to feeling like I was producing more mucous and like my throat was slightly closing up with no pain at all.

Again I thought nothing of it until I started choking and gagging. I took a picture of my tonsils to send my doctor.

I was diagnosed with a tonsil cyst and given difflam and told if it doesn't work within a week, to be reffered to ENT.

I rung up a couple of days later because I had a couple more symptoms of on and off pain in the ear and pressure in the head, but again absolutely no pain. And absolutely no cold or flu symptoms. I was told it was sinusitis. I was given antibiotics, of which, I am on day 6 of 9.

I'm still struggling with choking and gagging and feeling a mucous build up. No pain but struggling with the gagging. I have been using both the difflam and salt water, ice lollies and the antibiotics.

I feel like I need the ENT right away as this is so uncomfortable for me. I dunno what to do.

  • Hello Coheedlover,

I think it would be a good idea to give your GP a call and ask whether it would be possible for your to be referred to ENT - that you feel you need to be seen very soon as you are struggling with the gagging. Don't hesitate to give them a call or if it's over the weekend to ring 111 or to go to A and E if you feel that the choking and gagging is getting worse and affecting your ability to eat or breathe.

Best of luck I hope you get this sorted very soon!

    Best wishes,
