Tumour outside Oesophagus EUS booked so worried

Hello

I am hooding someone has been in a similar situation I am so worried and can't find much online..

I had a full body CT scan for raises ongoing lumpth nodes and had results last week all nodes seem reactive which is good but a tumour was identified on outside next to Osephagus.. it's around 5cm by 4cm I had a CT for chest pain a few months back and it was miss diagnosed for a hatial hernia.  The consultant has said I am being referred for EUS biopsy. I am really concerned as everything I read points to aggressive forms of cancer I am only 27 with two young children. The radiologist originally diagnosed from CT tumour as a gist but conukstant thinks that would be unlikely but there is still tumour at bottom of Oesophagus but on the outside of it he keeps saying so has said it's not Oesophagus cancer although comparing CT pictures they look identical. I can't find anyone or anything with similar experiences.

  • So sorry to hear this it's so worrying when you have things like this especially when you have had a misdiagnosis and are so young alot you hear and get told is more common in older people and so on however it's not always so black and white.

Can I ask what symptoms you had for you to know something was not right

Try to stay positive until you have had the further testing the good thing is they have found this and the testing will advise you further

  • Thank you

main symptom has been on and off chest pain and slight acid reflux but that was not concerning me so much the whole reason I first had CT was due to enlarged lumpth nodes in my neck since October last year. They have said the lumpth nodes do not look malignant and are just reactive alothough my mind is now going into overdrive thinking the tumour could of spread etc.
I just don't quite understand how the consultant has ruled out Oesophagus cancer as they are saying from CT can tell it's on the outside not inside of the Oesophagus but when I look at CT scans they look very similar. I'm not struggling to swallow as such or lost weight etc I really wasn't expecting this from the CT scan results really and now waiting for EUS seems likes forever, they have said it could be benign but either way may be looking as surgery as the tumour is fairly large and is squashing my Oesophagus
