Hi, bit of advice/info gathering

Hi all,

Found a lump behind right nipple, feels lumpy and bumpy like breast tissue but hard and thickened, skin looks normal, tender when I apply pressure with the flat pads of three fingers, nipple isn't reacting as normal as it appears that only the lower half of Areola tightens up when cold and actual nipple points down a bit, the offending boob is also significantly hotter than the other-no redness. Only way I can accurately describe it is like after having a baby when your boobs engorge and have that lumpy feel but this lump/hardening is just in a specific area.
No swollen lymph nodes that I can locate (very hard to find-any tips?)

Found lump on Tuesday night in bath, went to GP Wednesday and referral to Breast Clinic/Surgery for 29th July.

So, obviously cacking myself because all I can find is inflammatory BC () and fibrocystic breast.

Help please, if anyone can guide, reassure. Thank you xx

  • 4 years!!!! That is awful! No words for that pain.
when I go back to see him I'll just ask for a biopsy of the enlarged lymph node in armpit and of the breast tissue if he can. I don't trust the ultrasound as it's operator dependent and  because they only checked the one side so had nothing to compare with.
Its making me sick with worry not knowing what has caused my changes.

  • Hi,

Yes it's been 7 years now but I've still not come to terms with it. I know stuff like this happens and I don't blame anyone but it's still horrible. I was really lucky I had mammogram which was clear then went for ultrasound. The tech could not see fully determine what it was so I had 2 core biopsies. I'm glad they did this. I was shocked it was a fibroadenoma because I thought they only happened to younger people.

  • I think I will feel reassured if I have a biopsy so I really hope they do that for me. If it's just breast tissue then I want to know why it's behaving this way. Not sure if I mentioned it in an earlier comment but I have breast implants as I literally had no boobs, minimal breast tissue etc. My implants are behind muscle so all the tissue is a the front and easy to feel. I can hold all 'boob' (tissue not implant) in one palm/hand so it's very easy to feel the breast tissue. The breast tissue I can feel that runs to the nipple feels hard and very lumpy. So not a lump as such but all the tissue. I've never ever noticed the little tissue I have feeling like this.

  • You are definitely right going back. I was silly and left this from April until July and pretended it wasn't happening I won't ever do that again!

  • So do you think your issues are more than the fibroadenoma?

  • I do believe it's a fibroadenoma but I want to know if my hormones are out of balance. I had a lot of problems hormone wise after both my children. Fibroadenomas from what I've read occur in women in their 20's when they have more estrogen. If I've got on its saying to me I have high estrogen levels. My mums breast cancer was estrogen positive so I don't want any extra going through my body.

  • I've had a blood test last week. There are 3 abnormal results with

    •red blood cell count-Range 3.80-5.80, my result 3.65

    •Haematocrit-Range 0.360-0.470, my result 0.359

    •MCH-Range 27.0-32.0, my result 34.0

no idea what they mean as such but had a google search on them and it sounds like some kind of anaemia. I haven't had a phone call or anything from the GP about it so again, I'm assuming "it's fine"
