Lymph node biopsy

Had a lymph node biopsy on the 19th of June had phone call from haematologist saying the could not carry out any tests as not enough sample taken. So I will have to have another biopsy done it has taken a while to get second biopsy done as there was some discussion about wether there was enough left to get second biopsy. Had the biopsy done on the 17th July. Which they managed to get three good samples the consultant did a repeat scan before taking biopsies. He told me since my last scan all of my lymph nodes in groin had grown considerably bigger. I was not that worried but I am now seeing as it is just under 4 weeks since my last scan. Has anybody else had this happen?

  • I'm glad you've finally managed to have that second biopsy Sandy although I'm sorry about the news you were given following the results.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but I just wanted to let you know we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed this is no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you for your reply. Since my last post I have got a telephone consultation with haematologist at 12.50 today. Would not have thought results would have been back so soon? Seeing as I only had the biopsy done on Friday. I just hope there was enough to sample this time really don't want to have another one. I suppose I will just have to wait until phone consultation part of me thinks it's going to be negative and the other part thinks lymphoma or autoimmune my mind is all over the place at the moment. Trying to keep myself busy so I don't have to think about it that's easier said than done.

  • I was recently in the same situation, I thought to myself do not let it worry you, as I did not know the results there was nothing I could do, therefore I decided not to let it worry me. When I did get the results I was mentally prepared for it. I have now started treatment, there are issues which I deal with as they arise. If it turns out you have cancer, don't let it rule your life, you are in charge.

  • Hope you get on ok with your gp consultation

  • Had telephone consultation with haematologist results are not back yet don't know if that's good or bad haematologist also said they are going to discuss my case in MDT meeting is this normal seeing as I have not been diagnosed yet?

  • Yip think so its where they get together to plan the next course of action. Someone else might beable to advise you take care best wishes
