Ultra sound can't see a palpable lump

Hey guys I dont know if this is the right place to post this, I have a lump uder my right armpit, its been there for about 10 months now ( I cant really tell if its grown or not) so I finally went to my GP and although he wasnt worried I asked for an ultra sound, in the hospital the lady that preformed my ultra sound wasnt a doctor but she said she was trained in it, anyways she had a hard time finding anything even thouhg i was showing exactly where the lump is on my body, she sent it to the doctor and the results came back as this:

EXAM: Ultrasound lymph nodes

INDICATIONS: 20-year-old male with lump in the right axilla. Please look for lipoma.

TECHNIQUE: At the site of the patient's palpable concern in the right axilla, extensive scanning with a high frequency linear transducer was performed. Superficial paperclips were used to bracket the area where he palpated the mass.

COMPARISON: None prior

FINDINGS:

No worrisome findings. No fluid collections. No abnormal soft tissue masses.

Occasionally, lipomas may be sonographically occult, but as already discussed, there are no worrisome soft tissue masses seen at this site.

IMPRESSION:

At the site of the patient's palpable concern in the right axilla, there is no sonographic abnormality

I contacted my GP and he said dont worry and come back if aything changes, i just cant undrestand how they can not care about something like this, I mean if lipomas can be sonographically occult, couldnt cancer tumors be too? whats to say im in no danger? this has been eating me up for the last week and i can get an appointment untill next month, I cant do my daily activities anymore i keep thinking i have cancer, and if i do i want to know the earliest so i can treat it, Please help me with any of your wisdom.

Cheers.

  • I am in a similar situation, I had a nurse and 2 doctors confirm they could feel a lump in my armpit but on a scan 4 weeks later they couldn't find a lump. It is now 5 months later and the pain is soo much worse (if it wasn't for the pain I don't think I'd have noticed the lump). I have also recently noticed lumps on my opposite thigh and behind my knee so went back to the drs again. I did manage to get bloodscbloods doneldone and they have come back fine but have read that certain types of lymphoma dont show on bloods.

I seemed to have developed anxiety over the last 7 months, with three little children to think about it pertrifies me and the drs are so blazay with comments like it might be a trapped nerve, let's see if this cream helps.
