Possible Cervical Cancer

I'm looking for advice.

I last had a smear test in 2017. I have been bleeding for 18 days, really bad cramps and my lower back is agony. I've never had any problems with my period. I have never skipped one either.

My GP has booked me in for a smear test on Monday.

I'm really worrying because I sense there's something wrong. I know my body really well

I'm 39 years old, can anyone offer me advice? Has anyone been through this? Am I worrying too much.

I lost my little sister last year to melanoma and I am really panicking that I might be next

  • Hi hun [@SE15SAR]‍

first things first, don't worry yourself too much, there are a million and one reasons you could be having these symptoms so don't think the worst lovely.
Honestly I'm sure it's something very easily explained that could be causing it.

im 29 and I'm waiting on a treatment plan currently as unfortunately I was told during my colposcopy that they could see and feel a growth coming from my cervix.
the fact you've gone straight to your GP is the perfect thing to do, so take peace of mind in the fact you've gone to the right place. Please try to relax and enjoy your weekend (trust me I know it's hard when you're worrying)

If you need any advice at all please feel free to message me xx

  • Thank you so much for your response you've definitely put my mind at ease x I will just take it as it comes.

    Thanks again x

  • Hi

I just wanted to tell you about my experience.

ive had severe Pre cancerous cells removed in the past and had recently experienced bleeding and pain as well as brown discharge. So I thought the worst

followinh a gp examination she put me on an urgent referral for a colposcopy as said she saw something abnormal on my cervix.

i has my app last week and consultant removed a polyp from my cervix which he has sent off to be checked, but wasn't concerned and said polyp can cause lots of problems and very common. So there are lots of other things that can cause symptoms, so you're doing the best thing to get checked, because if it did happen to be the worst early detection is key and treatment is very good. I hope you get seen soon x
