Meeting for staging

Hi everyone

so I've had my MRI and CT scan and found out that my MDT team meet on Monday mornings, so it's a case of getting through this weekend so I can be staged and have a treatment plan put together.

absolutely terrified as I of course don't know what stage I am but I know it's higher than stage 1 so I'm preparing myself for that.

has anyone got any advice on how to keep calm? Or what to expect at the oncology chat for treatment?

thank you x

  • Treatment does depend on the hospital certainly in terms of the brachytherapy where it depends on the type of equipment a particular hospital uses.

Patients all have different amounts of treatment, individually tailored to their case. For example I had 32 radiotherapy (my plan was for 25),  4 chemotherapy(my plan was 5) and no brachytherapy (which had been part of my plan). So my treatment plan evolved as things happened, and treatment had to be adapted-it happens.

Its hard not to overthink..I completely get that, and have done plenty of it in the past! But 18 months down the line I am a little less prone to it now. You sound like a positive person with a good attitude and that is going to serve you well. xx

  • I'm glad to know that should they need to change anything that they will, it makes it less nerve wracking should they have to.

I am trying to remain as positive as I can for the time being as I don't know much at all currently but I'm sure I will in the next 48 hours.
I couldn't be more grateful to you for answering my questions, it's appreciated and I definitely feel more at ease and not so nervous about waiting for this phone call tomorrow.

Would you mind if I message you once I know more about my staging at all?

    thank you again xx

  • Hi Kizzi

I don’t mind at all if you’d like to message. I’ll send a friend request and once that’s accepted we can message. I hope you get a call tomorrow after the meeting so you can move forward. xx

  • Hi [@Kizzimart]‍

you've been in my thoughts and I hope you get some results and a treatment plan soon.

not knowing is the absolute worst. Once you know facts and you have a plan you can get started and get your head around what you are dealing with.

i know you must be so worried and I hope you get some answers soon so you can start to move forward.

take care of yourself and try and keep busy if you can x
