Yes you can pay privately for diagnostic tests. Usually you have to have an appointment with  a private Gynae Consultant first, who will then order any necessary tests at a private hospital. This is usually one to which the Consultant has a practice. Because of Covid19 your initial consultation may take place over the telephone. I write from experience. The hospital will invoice you separately  (from the Consultant's fee.)  Your GP may recommend a Consultant if you say you wish to be fast tracked, or you my find a name from your local private hospital or local Gynae Group. Best of luck. If you are concerned about your health and are stressed by the thought of the NHS referrals being delayed by the essential NHS work involved at the moment with Covid19, and can possibly afford some private care, you not only buy good treatment but aso peace of mind. I know how cost effective this can be.

Yes I feel the main reason for getting tests done privately is the speed in which the tests are done and the results known. I have recently needed diagnostic tests for my kidneys and bladder. I had everything completed and the results known within 3 days. It was a big help with anxiety. 
It is expensive but totally worth it in my opinion. My tests were  all negative to cancer which was a massive relief. 

I think the wait is much worse now that it would normally be within the NHS.  Perhaps when covid abates the health service will be quicker than it is right now. Perhaps then private medicine might not be worth it? After all the NHS testing is just as accurate as any private clinic. It's a big decision and one perhaps that no one ought to be faced with.

Yesterday morning I felt a little bit frustrated awaiting for my appointment as the hospital is 2 hours away and I'd need to organise a lift, the kids, work etc.. so I rang the ultrasound department and they told me over the phone that my appointment is on the 31st for the ultrasound with possible biopsy. I then contacted local private healthcare options and none of them are currently doing diagnostic testing due to Covid apart from one which was even further away and the first one available was on the 30th. 

I feel pleased to be in the system now but you really have to advocate for yourself don't you?
