Hi everyone,
I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I'm really worried they won't take my symptoms seriously. My periods have becomes really irregular, only 2 since December. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 and I put it down to that and/or the stress of lockdown. For the last few weeks, I've been experiencing a really bad pain in my pelvic area and now my lower back. I put this down to pre-menstrual cramps but I haven't gotten my period and the pain hasn't gone away. I've been feeling rubbish on/off for a good while, often feeling bloated, having indigestion. My bowel movements are also quite irregular. I phoned my GP at the start of the week and described my symptoms. However, they didn't think it required an emergency app and I had to schedule it for later next week. I've also discussed it with my partner and parents who also think I'm fine and it's in my head. I do suffer from anxiety and would have agreed with them before but I also can't shake this niggling feeling that there's something really wrong. I know it was a big mistake but I researched my symptoms online and everything comes back to Ovarian Cancer.
I should also mention that I'm 30 and stopped taking the pill a few years ago. I'm terrified that I've neglected my PCOS and have caused damage that could have been avoided if I had stayed on the pill. I really want to ask my doctor to do a CA125 blood test and refer me for an ultrasound instead of wasting time with IBS etc. I wondered if anyone had any advice on how I should approach this conversation with my GP or if they also think I'm overthinking my symptoms.
Many thanks! X
