Post menopausal bleeding

Hi...

Im so scared about this.....

I've been to the doctor with stomach ache that had been almost continuous for a couple of months, along with bloating...

Blood and urine tests were all clear.

A few days ago I started bleeding. I can only describe it as being like a very heavy period which after 3 days, has yet to stop.

I've been referred to the hospital and have an appointment in a weeks time.

I'm frightened but am also half convincing myself that there will be nothing wrong!

I haven't had a period in 3 years, am 52 and am interested to hear from others with similar symptoms and what the outcome was.

Thanks x

  • Hello Jacquis,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. Thank you for sharing your story. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you but it won't be too long now before you have your appointment in a week's time.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jaquis

I am going through the very same thing as you are, bleeding post menopausal, after having a radical hysterectomy 11years ago, slamming straight into the menopause with a bang..

first of all I had to go to Urology, Gynaecology, and Gastro Departments to determine where the 'blood' was coming from, cameras going up and down, i have also had several scans, MRI and CT, but nothing has been able to tell me what is going on. Still bleeding some days worse than others, but it is not normal I haven't bled for 11 years. Still being seen by a range of consultants, Gynae mainly at the moment, they are now thinking on doing keyhole surgery to the abdomen to see if the surgical MESH they put in after the hysterectomy to see if that has fallen apart and causing damage to any organs in the tummy area.
hope you get answers .. if you do please could you let me know I would appreciate it sooooo much.
