Breast lump now new armpit lump wth swelling

Hi all, new to this but heads doin over time an this site seems to give lots of support and similar stories.

I found a lump in my right breast few months back and finally had the courage to go to the doctor. She referred me as urgent to the breast clinic as she could feel what i could feel and said there wasnt any other lump or swelling near but cant rule anything out. Its been 4 weeks so far due to the covid rules they can only see so many people a day. So tonight i was in the shower had a feel again and felt a firm ball under my right arm pit, quickly checked the left and deffo nothing the same. As i lifted both arms an looked in the mirror i realised it was also swollen. Hubbys like your just panicking its probably a gland. But could it be? Anyone else have similar issue or even experienced anything like this? Pls and thank you in advance x

  • Hello Mumof7,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. You did the right thing to go to the doctor to get your lump in your right breast looked at.  Hopefully it won't be long now until you get seen at the breast clinic. It's good you had a feel on the left side and I think it would be a good idea to give your GP a call and mentioning this as this is something you discovered recently and you didn't mention it during your last appointment. It might be worth mentioning it too at the breast clinic. It definitely needs looking at though and a medical professional will be best placed to advise you on this.

I hope that you will hear from others here who have experienced something like this and that they will drop by shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Private hospitals are also affected by CoVid-19 of course but £185 should get you a mammogram/  complete breast clinic consultation. You can switch to NHS anytime. I wish I had seen my surgeon at Spire hospital after a 2018 mammogram on NHS showed a 20cm mass but I find there is no deadline/ target to diagnosis. It is the same NHS Consultants who all work at the local NHS Hospitals! The NHS tells you just 2 more weeks for another deeper biopsy/ and several months went by and the only Dr. I saw were radiologists who can't/ won't tell you much/ about future investigations or treatment timescales etc. The NHS deterred me from an initial private consultation (and psychology) so I had to fret/ read up on my own with a 10cm undiagnosed cancerfor months! After surgical biopsy op. I was N.E.D. but OK cos I was in system- 15 days to start chemo, then mastectomy. 40 Grays RT. I had rare agressive Metaplastic TNBC (triple-negative breast cancer) aged 47. As under 50s often have the more aggressive and larger tumours I find NHS incautious and slow to act- algorithms cld sound the alarm earlier for youmger women who may have a faulty gene as yet unknown

Good news al-clear right now for 2 yrs. and can celebrate my 50th birthday soon

Waiting for breast reconstruction now. All best wishes D x x
