bloods came back slightly abnormal. neck glands up thyroid?

ok im on 10mg Escitalopram, 5mg Ramipril, 5mg Amlodipine.

drink maybe glass of red wine per day. probably shouldnt, also sometimes have some whisky on different day.

had mri on cervical region of neck due to pain in shoulder was told no tumour just cervical spondylosis.

had some routine bloods done around December 2019 i think. all normal apparently.

around November 2019 noticed i sometimes have a low frequency buzzing in my right ear that i can almost feel as if its vibrating the ear drum. the noise is very quiet, not constant and is completely random.

doctor didnt seem to think any problem.

been doing some soldering recently with 60% tin 40% lead solder with a diy extrctor. im not sure if its the fumes from the flux but noticed my throat getting a little wheezy, like when i used to get asthma as a child, and sometimes when i sneeze i sound like a seal. also more recently noticed thyroid seems larger one side than the other if i tip my head back. this is on the right side same as ear. also my glands at the corner of the jaw bone and below the problem ear are raised, might have been for some time. when i press the one at the corner of my jaw bone i get a sharp scratch in my throat which gives me a soar throat for a day or two. both somtimes hert a bit usually after ive been proding.

GP thinks the wheezing is my hayfever. she sent me for a blood test on Monday and the results are (which the receptionist said some are slightly abnormal, but later said abnormal but not serioulsy, also some dont seem to be back):

Bone Profile

C-Reactive Protien

Thyroid Function

Liver Function

Urea and Electrolytes

ones that im not sure on are:

GFR

Haemolysis check

ones im ok on are:

Full Blood Count

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate

could all of this be down to being on lock down since March 15th approx? so have had very little excersise and probably not drunk enough fluids. also wonder what the solder fumes and wine could do in the way of causing blood problems.

got video call tomorrow with GP. proper bricking it.

  • Its hard to know really some of my results have been abnormal but not massively so my gps are never bothered despite running a temp for 7 months having swellings on my jaw in my neck for the last 6 weeks and im feeling worse and worse but they are not interested i am pestering them at this point see what happens when you get a call back x

  • Sorry to hear your in the same boat. I hope we are both worrying needlessly. But it's proper scary when they say abnormal on about 6 out of 8 tests. Hopefully it's just a blip due to my poor lock down lifestyle and hay fever.

will try not to stress tonight.

  • Ok spoke to doctor and she said the bloods were ok.

but I've noticed since shaving my beared that the sensation of something touching my Adam's apple is still there. She's sent me for an ultrasound to put my mind at rest. But I'm not sure it will show if I have cancer. I'm thinking of trying to go private and get an mri. Though we have limited private care via work.

at the mo I have a sort of tight skin feeling sometimes where my thyroid is, sometimes at the base of the two sort of muscles that go upto your ears. Sometimes the 2 base points hert a little. Sometimes I get sharp pain in the glands below the ears, almost like an ear infection. I also have a sort of sore throat like there's something there I can't swallow. This was more painful as I said after pressing one of the glands. I also have a sort of cracking and popping at times in my throat. Also if I talk at times it seems my voice is crackly.

i suffer from hay fever and the gp thinks it's that causing the crackles, though I can't find much on google to suggest this.

im really worried as my wife is going for a CT scan on her throat as she has had a very strong burning pain in her throat when she talks or swallows food. She's had it for 3-4 months.

honestly I just want to see a Doctor, but the GP won't see anyone. Why is it we can do everything we could do before lockdown, but we can't see a doctor?

my gp did a video consultation which was very quick and didn't allow me to talk about all my simptoms.

maybe the tightness in my neck is just tension? As sometimes when I'm outside I don't notice it.

  • P.s.

i notice the neck tight skin feeling more when I sit down?

also gp looked at my neck over the web cam and said she couldn't see anything obvious. I'm thinking like can't you just let me come and see you for god sake. My missus has been treated the same way by her gp's. I'm sorry but telephone ain't the same as face to face. They've spent 3 months buggering her about. In the end we asked a private consultant his opinion. After she was sent for a barium swallow she then saw the gastro consultant who has now asked for a CT and sent her to ENT. He did a vid call and now want an ultrasound and mri. The private guy said needs camera. NHS wants to do that last in 2 weeks. It's all taking 1-2 weeks each time they want to test something else. No wonder we don't have good cancer care.

  • Today's ultrasound didn't show anything other than slightly inflamed glands. She said the GP might ask for another check in a couple of weeks. So hopefully all this is just hay fever.

certainly in the last couple of days since we've had some wind and rain my throat has been better.
