Vaginal bleeding 18 days and counting

Hi I am looking for advice please. I had HPV virus in 2004 and had surgery. 16 years later going through menopause stop bleeding for 8 months now started bleeding heavily after sex. It's been 18 days now and been referred for urgent appointment at hospital for blood tests scans etc.  I had more or less stopped but then carried two heavy shopping bags started walking up steps home and felt a rush of blood which covered my Jean's started bleeding again.  Has anyone on here had similar symptoms and can give me an idea of what to expect at hospital. Very worried for my 9 year old who needs her mum any advice for me? Thanks in advance sending love

  • I find reiki great for calming the mind as well. Hopefully  going to volunteer when this is all over to give reiki to hospital patients as it's very relaxing. Yes might try massaging my tummy is very swelled at mo but not really tender. Hubby's off to watch football with his son so going to have a soak and a chill. Lovely to chat with you are you on facebook? be nice to link up but wont be offended if you dont want to ! Best wishes xx

  • Am a bit state of the ark. No facebook or social media. And I have skin cancer surgery in a couple of weeks. Don't always have online access. But I really appreciate your offer to chat. Thank you!! Really kind.

Do be careful massaging your tummy so as not to set off a huge rush of blood. With the fibroid my womb is enlarged and so tummy bigger than it would be otherwise. Consultant made a joke about it. That means I can get a dragging sensation and can't carry heavy shopping.

Having the fibroid has meant having a womb the size of several months pregnancy for a few years but I think that my womb is finally getting smaller. Bath always helps with that kind of pain - my go to place when struggling (and can also help stop the bleeding for a bit but only if I avoid the temptation to press down on my womb) Enjoy your soak!xx

  • Oh im so sorry to hear you having to have surgery for skin cancer a colleague of mine went through the same on her ankle last year and had to have skin grafts good luck with that. Yes got the remote to myself tonight to soak and good film. Thanks keep in touch xx

  • Hi - hope all okay with you and that you enjoyed soak and film.

My repeat 2WW got cancelled after consultant double-checked pathology and so I am back on monitoring by GP. Huge relief!  Sorry not to have replied sooner. My oversight. xx

  • Hi so glad you okay. My hospital appointment is 10th August so I imagine they think my symptoms are not so worrying as waited over a month. Thank goodness stopped bleeding after 22 days got to have day in hospital for blood tests and scans so fingers crossed.

Wonderful that all is well with you. Just come back from Penzance for lovely break so feeling chilled and positive.

    Keep in touch

    Best wishes

  • Hi Nicky,

So glad you got away. Penzance - lovely! I can't wait to get away sometime. It's been far too long.

Really pleased the bleeding stopped. I still get long bleeds (last one was around 22 days). Main problem is anaemia and staying on top of the iron levels.

You will get thoroughly checked over in hospital - it's really good the way they do those one-stop gynae clinics with ultrasound, hysteroscopy, blood tests etc.

My GP did a direct ultrasound referral before sending me to gynae. I remember feeling unbelievably scared as my mother had had a hysterectomy following exceptionally heavy bleeding in her forties, then radical mastectomy (stage 3 breast cancer) a decade later. It was such a relief to be told I didn't have to have any treatment at all if I was prepared to live with the bleeding until menopause. I think things are finally starting to ease off – longer gaps between bleeds. Maybe I'm going to hit that landmark at last.

Have got lots of energy, been really busy, think my mood has lifted with not having to go back to skin cancer clinic so soon after the last surgery.  Still a bit bemused by the fact they snaffled an extra mole (without my realising).

Wishing you well for your appointment.

    Love Sunny

  • Hope all went smoothly and not too uncomfortable today.  Just wanted to say I was thinking of you. No need to reply. You probably need lots of rest. I felt a little strange after my hysteroscopy. Kept getting on wrong buses home (x3). Take care xx

  • Hi hope all is good.

Had my results yesterday hyperplasia without aytopia which is good news. Hormones all over the place so have to have coil fitted. Definitely good news.

    How are you?

    Best wishes

  • Hi Nicky,

Thank you so much for this update. Really pleased you got good news!

My hormones are all over the shop...Waking every night with night sweats (even now it's cooler). Otherwise feeling better than I had been. Hoping this will be the year I finally get my menopause.

Take care now and hope that fitting goes smoothly.

    Love Sunny xx
