Ear cancer

This is a long one...

about 4 months ago my ear started hurting really bad after I was out on the wind, it was also ringing. I think it may have been perforated but when I went to the doctor she said it was an outer ear infection. I got some ear spray and took it, but it still didn't go. another doctor then rang me and he perscribed me some antibiotics for it, but still didn't go so he perscribed yet another stronger dosage. This took Away the pain but I still got the tinnitus. I left it for a while just in case but after another month my ears started leaking and it was both ears. I got on the phone to them yet again and he said I have eustation tube dysfunction which he gave me a steroid nasal spray for to clear my airway. Again, nothing happened.

The past 4 days I have been experiencing lightheadedness and my glands on my neck are swollen. I'm also very tired. I rang the doctor today and she said whatever it is has now spread to my inner ear.

I have an appointment with an ENT doctor but it isn't until the 5th August. I'm only 20, I have huge health anxiety and I am so worried about it being cancer. I don't have any hearing loss at all or numbness and no pain. Just wondering if people are experiencing or have experienced this before with good results. Thank you

  • Hi terri9999,

It's good to hear you've been getting this checked out and that you have an appointment coming up - hopefully this will give some clear answers and next steps. I'm unable to advise on this but as the doctor seems to think it's an infection then try not to worry too much. You can always call our nurses if you'd like to talk anything through - you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Hopefully the wait for your appointment won't feel too long.

    Wishing you all the best,
