Endometrial cancer

I had a hysterscopy last week.  My gynaecologist said that my uterus had a mass on the posterior wall which she removed and has sent off for biopsy.  I'm 51 years old never had children and currently perimenopausal. I have had pelvic and back pain plus heavy continuous  bleeding for months and been back and forth to the gp surgery on numerous occasions, mostly being fobbed off.  Anyway finally I have seen a consultant and had the biopsies.  I am very nervous and anxious at the moment and would like anyone to message me who has been through or going through a similar experience.

  • Hi I'm Nicky going through the same heavy bleeding during menopause. I'm 53 and been bleeding continually for 18 days. Picked a couple of heavy bags up yesterday and felt a gush blood clots etc pain in back and pelvic area. I'm waiting for hospital appointment which is the worst part I hope you get news about your biopcies soon and my fingers are crossed for you x

  • Hi willowhoney I went through a similar experience some years ago now. I for months was bleeding almost constantly. The pain was beyond anything I had ever experienced. The problem was when I had this it was 22 years ago. The only way those day you actually found out if it was anything to do with endrmitrosis properly spelt that wrong.those days it was classed as a type of cancer yet you still had to have a cancer biopsy. Apparently the Edemitriol when they said it was a similar type of cancer I do not think they meant it literally. I actually do know as the Enimitrol wall wil start to grow outside of the uterus it can grow into the Bowles causing and crushing a lot of the internal, pancreas, and the colon.it can grow on the ovaries and I was told it can start to grow on your lungs slowly crushing them then to top all that off it maybe cancerous. I certainly do not envy you at all. I will say this. When I had it as I said they didn't actually know and could not actually diagnose endmitrol, problems or endermitrotis. Which I do know most biopsy come back as benign. Personally i would like to say the mass is endmitrodis. If it is as I have already said normally a biopsy comes back as benign. Although you can not actually take that as gospel. I said normally not all. I had pains in all the places you had. I actually had pains in the top of my legs also. I know when I went to see a gynaecologist. He did say the only thing we can offer you is a hysterectomy. I said do it ASAP please anything to stop the pain and bleeding. If I went out I would have to have tampons and 3/4 sanitary towels. I removed on one occasion  my late husband and I decided we where going to go to st ives I living in Huntingdon then. At Ives was a 6 mile trip. So before we went I used a new tampon 4 sanitary towels. I drove the 6 miles parked the car. As I got out of the car my husband said Marj I think you had better get back in the car. For a few seconds o was very confused. Then he said you have leaked. Oh god it felt like my world was collapsing in on me. If I can not go six miles without leaking what the he'll could I do. From then on I wore only dark trousers. One thing always stuck in my mind what the gynaecologist said when he said all I can offer you was a hysterectomy. He was going to refer me to a counsellor. Because he was finding that a lot of women once they had, actually had they hysterectomy. They no longer felt like a women. I suppose it was the times we where stil in the 90s I am sorry if I upset anyone. After having to wear so much sanitary wear and still wasn't safe. I asked him if he was kidding me. He said no. Well I certainly couldn't get my head around that. I just said no I don't want counselling. I wanted the bleeding and pain gone. So 3 weeks later I was called in to have my hysterectomy. Why is it you are there waiting for the one thing that could help me and I find I am thr last one down. Sods bloody law thst was . I forgot to mention I did havr 5 children. I was sterilised at 26 after having had 3. I genuinely didn't want anymore children. I will say this. Not not get sterilised to young as I did. My first marriage ended through the death of my first husband he died in a car crash. You just never know what life is going to throw your way. I remarried and had a sterilisation reversal. I knew I had a 80% chance of a ectopic pregnancy sure enough 9 months later I had the ectopic. After that they said the chances of getting pregnant now was a no. But I did first thing I had to do was go for a scan to make sure embryo had not got stuck in the left tube. The ectopic I had was rupturing so it was a emergency operation. Anyhow I went for a normal scan which actually shows nothing I had a internal scan that showed the embryo wasn't stuck in my tube it had passed the stitching and ended up latching on the uterus. I had a boy. 5 months later 2 days late I wasn't supposed to leave it any longer had a blood test. Pregnant.  So much for them saying no it wasn't ever likely to get pregnant. Up the hospital for a scan. Once again the embryo passed the stitching and it had latched onto the uterus. I asked my husband to get a vasectomy. It seems all he had to do was drop his trousers and I was pregnant. I was exactly the same with my first husband I had three children with him my eldest was exactly 2 and a half when I had my third child. Anyhow that's gone off the subject. When they opened me up apparently I was staring to grow the edmutrodis, on other organs. Thru had no choice to face it but my left one was clear. So the scraped after taking the uterus outs the scaled as much as thd coukd of the other organs. Apparently ones it's been removed from the mass it would die the bits that was left. Those days it was a bikini airline cut. I had been cut in the same place 3 times. Fortunately I was concerned about the biopsy mine did come back negative. Thank the Lord. I was

40 when I had my hysterectomy. Often if you judt  have one  ovary it can close down early. Thank god mine didn't because I could not havd HRT diue to my father having had a stroke at 52 so that really put the  carbosh on HRT. I had to have blood test to find out when I started thr menapouse at 53 cant say I had much symptoms. Apart from night sweats but that would happen when I went out shopping the term I used was oh dear I am going on a mini tropical holiday. People looked at me strangely. Not that it bothered me. I can't say don't worry willowhoney I wish I could but unfortunately I can't my love. Have you any idea how long it will be before you get the results. As I said most women I know was benign. I ended up getting lung cancer instead. Lost most of the left lung it had to be removed. Not that I want you to get cancer at all stay stron should it come back anything but benign. Do not give into it. I have always had a philosophy if you break down and cray you more of less inviting cancer to come and take you. I saw my 2 brothers do that. I just said when I was given 6/8 months no sorry it's inconvenient. If it wants a fight then it's got one. Now both my brother died Farley quickly one he lasted a year and 12 days the other one it was 2 and a half years. Me seven years so far and still fighting.goid luck hun let me know how you get on. Feel free to ask me any questions when ever you like of if you just want a good moan I am here ok. Marj xx

  • Thank you.  Menopause sucks doesn't it x

  • So nice to hear from you Marj.  You sound like you have been through it.  I am no stranger to cancer I cared for my ex partner who  successfully battled tonsil cancer.  After he got the all clear we spilt up shortly, after a 15 year relationship.  He changed, he became a different person and he started to become abusive towards me.

My aunt who was more like a sister to me mainly because she was only a few years older died in February of this year of breast cancer.

All we can do is take each day as it comes.

    Please stay in touch.

    Thanks once again. Xx

  • It certainly does tried HRT for a while because of the hot sweats wish I hadn't bothered now as I know there is a link to a breast and womb cancer  Hopefully we will all get answers soon best wishes xx

  • I have thought of HRT myself but I know two deceased neighbours, one in her forties and one in her sixties.  Both took HRT, the younger one died of bowel cancer and the older one ovarian cancer.  It is so scary isn't it.

    Take care x
