Cervical Cancer sick with worry

Hi everyone.  I have been to the hospital on Monday after being referred with the 2 week rule. I'm 28 and have been heavy bleeding for about 7/8 weeks. On examination the doctor can see that the bleeding is coming from inside my cervix and can see a 2cm growth on the cervix. Before she began her examination she said she was going to take a biopsy but she didn't in the end.

I have now been referred for an MRI scan & the hysterocopy clinic - although she didn't give me anymore information than that or if she was worried or what it could be.
she also took a smear (GP never took one as I was bleeding)

my question is, do you think they suspect cancer if they are further sending me for these tests?

I have a 3 year old daughter and no family close and am making my self sick with worry not sleeping hardly eating

please help me

  • Hi [@Worriedmum28]‍

i think they have to be cautious and the fact you've been seen and they saw something doesn't necessarily mean it's cancer, could be a multitude of things but if they "suspect" cancer you'll be seen a lot quicker and everything goes quite quickly.

im 29 currently due an MRI tomorrow morning after them finding a 6-7cm growth on my cervix (which they assume is cancerous) which in itself is absolutely terrifying but I'm actually quite calm, try not to think on it too much which I know is hard, the quicker they do the test the quicker they can rule out sinister things and get you on the path to whatever they think you need doing. Honestly don't worry yourself until they say it's something it's just something they currently "suspect" it's not confirmed.

send me a message if you do need to chat

    xx

  • Hi [@Kizzimart]‍

thanks so much for replying. Thank you for your kind words.

im sorry to hear your going through this also.  Your right about it moving quickly I think that's what is making me worry, the urgency of the whole thing.  I just wish she would have gave me some sort of clue about how she was feeling regarding what she saw etc.

Il be thinking about you in regards to your MRI please let me know how you get on. Fingers crossed for good news.

  • Thank you so much [@Worriedmum28]‍

wel I've just had another call from the hospital and I've got my CT scan on Friday this week aswell, the quickness also scares me but I'm trying to think that the quicker it's done the quicker I can get help to fix it.
Honestly try to just think the quicker you know the quicker you'll have a more settled peace of mind about the next road you go down.

im petrified of the staging if I'm honest and that's what's worrying me the most right now but I'm trying to push through it.

thank you so much, I will let you know xx

  • Even though I haven't even been diagnosed I am scared about staging too. Do you have support?
Are they allowing you to bring someone for support into the hospital now?
I have added you as a friend on here as was going to send you a message but it wouldn't allow me x

  • Hi ladies so sorry about your situation xx I hAbe coloscopy next wed for red/purple patch on cervix and abnormal bleeding x what were your symptoms and how are you both doing now xx sending hugs xx

  • I've got my husband for support but I don't want anyone to stress for me until I know myself. My MRI was a bit nerve wracking as I didn't know what to expect today but it was ok, al done in 30minutes. You can't take anyone in at my hospital you have to go alone for appointments but sometimes they will make exceptions if you need someone. Have you got support hun? I'm in for my CT scan tomorrow lunchtime so I'm hoping that after that my hospital has there MDT meeting some point early next week so I can actually get somewhere as I'm worrying myself sick currently. I totally get where you're coming from it's so hard not to think about outcomes and results but everyone keeps saying to me that no matter what just be in the frame of mind that you WILL beat it if it is that xx

  • Hi [@jothomo74]‍

in all honesty my symptoms were pressure in the pelvis causing me to think I needed to wee a lot, slight left pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding. I'm doing ok I'm trying to stay level headed but still worrying aswell lol as it's hard not too. How are you? What symptoms are you having? I hope your colposcopy goes well xx

  • Hello

thank you so much for reply xx means a lot x having periods every 18 days and that's pretty much it x the GP said she saw something on inspection and have bled ever since she did the smear just a little on the toilet paper xx sorry tmi xx been referred by 2 week pathway xx

  • Well being referred on that pathway as mercy as it is, it's literally the quickest way to be seen and have your mind put at ease, whatever your GP saw doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, there's a number of things that can cause bleeding so don't automatically think the worst hun, I'm sure it's easily explained. Honestly you just have to remain upbeat and positive (and trust me I know exactly how hard it is) let me know when you get your appointment, and if you need to ask any questions feel free xxx

  • Thank you so much xx I will let you know how my appointment went xxx
