Squishy white lump on soft palate

Hi everybody.

Looking for some advice please.

I have recently found a small white painless lump on my soft palate in the roof of the mouth (Towards the back) I am petrifired as I'm sure most people would be.

I'm only 29 but I smoke drink quite a lot and also have HPV, i don't know if its connected but i have been getting very bad acid reflux and regurgitation recently which is very uncomfortable.

I have been to my dentist and he said he doesnt think it's anything bad but wanted to go to my gp. My gp has had a look and also doesnt think it's anything sinister. However has referred me to a specialist for a biopsy.

My appointment is a week away but I'm constantly worrying about it being mouth cancer.

Any advice would be very much appreciated and if anybody knows of anything else it could be.

Hi Laura,
Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries with this - it's naturally unsettling when you have something like this that you're unsure about, but try to take reassurance from what the dentist and GP have said so far. It's good that you've been referred as it should mean you can hopefully get some peace of mind soon.
I hope it's not too long to wait for your appointment and then the results.

I'm afraid I'm not able to advise - it's only really your GP or the specialist who can do this, so the best thing is to sit tight until you can see the specialist. In the meantime try to keep busy to keep your mind off things if you can.

Hi Laura,
I hope you're doing ok. I'm in this position now. I'm 29 too, have had a small ulcer type white patch on my soft pallete next to the uvula (only realised recently it has been there 9 months + due to comparing a picture) and am now waiting for my appointment with the specialists after being referred.

Do you have answers on what caused yours?
