Freaking out

Hi,

Ive never been on here before but I'm feeling pretty stressed and hope there is some advice out there to help me...

About 11 years ago I had CIN3 cells and a Lettz procedure to remove the precancerous cells. Roughly ten days after I started to bleed out, rushed to hospital where they struggled to get it under control and the long and short of it I nearly died. Spent a week in hospital and had to have 6 weeks off work. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Today I have received a letter to say the cells are again abnormal and I'm waiting for a colposcopy appointment. I'm of course jumping ahead and freaking out about the thought of another let's procedure. I can't go through that again.

What if any alternatives are there, can I opt for a hysterectomy, has anyone left the cells and hoped they would be alright?

I'm sorry to hear about your recent referral to colposcopy. I think it's absolutely understandable that you're feeling so concerned after what happened last time.
If you are being seen at the same hospital then they should have access to your medical records from the previous Lettz procedure and what happened afterwards but do make sure that you tell them what happened and explain the impact that it had on you as well. They will be able to talk you through all your options.

You might find it helpful to talk to one of our nurses ahead of your appointment. They will be able to offer some advice and information which may be useful before you speak to the Consultant. You can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
