Worried I have bowel cancer

I’m 37 and have been having trouble with my bowels for at least a couple of months now. It started that I was going more than normal for me and they were looser. Then in the evenings I now feel full of wind which usually ends with a tiny rabbit poo like stool movement late at night. I’ve had three lots of blood when wiping but I believe this is from a cut as it stings when I get the blood. Now my stools in the day are thin .

I had a bad pain in my left side one night that lasted for 20 minutes and now I feel dull aches and sharp pains occasionally to the left and right low down.

Blood and stool sample were ok. I’m booked in for a colonoscopy within the next two weeks. I am a mummy to two very young boys and am petrified. I can’t switch off. My consultant says it’s not cancer but how does he know without looking? He said I’m too young.

  • Hi ljd62,

I'm sorry to read about the difficulties you've been experiencing recently. It's good to hear you have an appointment booked and I hope it's not too long to wait for that and then to get the results.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry too much at this point - nothing is certain. While waiting some people say it helps to keep busy to try to keep your mind off things.

    Wishing you all the best,
