11cm ovarian cyst

Hi

I ended up in hospital last night with severe pain in my abdomen and back, they sent me for a scan of my kidneys and found an 11cm cyst on my ovary. The Dr sent me home but said they would probably want to remove it and that was it. I phoned Gynacology at the hospital and they said wait a week. As I didn't have much feedback yesterday I'm a bit scared. I haven't been able to move about much for two weeks from the pain. Is this something that would need urgent surgery? should I be worried ? I weigh 8stone so this feels like it's a bit big to be hanging round inside me  and just really scared right now.

  • Hi Char and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the cyst that's been found but hopefully it won't be long until you have it removed and find out more.

Quite a few of our members have had to contend with ovarian cysts so will know what you're going through at the moment and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to talk things through with them as well.

We're thinking of you Char and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi [@Char52]‍

I am in the same boat as yourself and was going to post but i saw yours. I have been having a lot of other symptoms from still bleeding 8 weeks on, lower back pain to a point am crawling...leg / foot swelling and my stomach looks 8 months gone (though i weigh a lot more than yourself). I get a lot of headaches, need the toilet a lot and sometimes lose control of my bowel...my life is hard work at the min. I have finally been sent for a ultrasound yesterday and they found a 10cm cyst on my left ovary and couldnt see my right one. I dont know how long it will take but i heard the results will be sent to my doctor and a note asking for him to refer me and possible blood tests and a camera to see what else if anything is going on. I know its scary but try not to worry. I think i feel better than before tests but now am paranoid about it popping etc. I dont know how old you are i am 46, i think it matters for if they remove it or not but i know its easier said but try not to worry, most of these things turn out to be nothing. x
