This week I went to my appointment to check the lump I found in my breast, I had a ultrasound as consultant felt 2 lumps. They did a mammogram and biopsy. After all this was carried out I was sent back to the original room where I saw consultant again who came in with a nurse.
The consulant did not directly say you have cancer but has already made an appointment to come back in in 2 weeks asked me to bring someone in with me. (Due to Cov19 they are one person only policy in place so no one was with me) she has also organised a mri during my wait which I'll have results when I go back in a fortnight.
I did not want to ask directly is this cancer I was alone trying to hold it together as it was, but I did say I'm taking what you found isn't good? Her reply we found 2 unusual areas we have done biopsy and we want to do a mri we will give you all the results at your appointment.
am I right in thinking this is not normal procedure?
do we normally wait for either a letter to say everything is ok or a phone call asking to come in? It's not normal to already have a follow up?
i feel like I'm being bombarded now from the very few people who know I have this lump and feel like they are trying to offer me hope by saying it doesn't mean it's cancer but I just know in my gut it is why else would I already have follow up appointment? I could sense the atmosphere change in the scanning room and the receptionist face when I went back to rebook.
Has anyone else who's already been in my position had the same experience where a follow up appointment has been made on the same day as biopsy? And did it come back ok?
