Abnormal cervix.. 2 week emergency appointment.

Hi everyone. I wonder if someone can help put my mind at ease.
I have been bleeding very heavily for 6 weeks now non stop. Was at the doctors last Wednesday and the nurse done an examination. She said my cervix looked abnormal with white spots on it, she got the doctor in to confirm who scared me half to death mentioning the word cervical cancer and emergency gynaecology appointment on the 2 week rule.

I am a mum to a young toddler and am beside myself with worry I have my appointment on Monday for a scan and investigation.  Has this happened to anyone else? What can I expect on the day and how long will it take me to get my results.
thanks in advance x

  • Hi Worriedmum28,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries and I'm sure it wasn't nice hearing the doctor say that. Try not to overly worry at this point as the tests haven't yet been done and so the doctor wouldn't have any evidence to really base that statement on. You can find out a little more about what to expect on this section of our website here.

If anyone else here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon. You can also browse or search this forum to see if there are other relevant discussions.

In the meantime try to keep your mind off things this week if you can.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi

This sounds so similar to me. I feel sick with worry. How did things go for you x

  • Hi, I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this.
In the end I had an MRI scan, second smear test done, biopsy etc and I was fine. The bleeding was due to a condition called Adenomyosis. Which can only be fixed with a hysterectomy. Luckily my bleeding stopped on its own (weird as it went on for months and months). The only thing I can say I please please try not to worry, easier said than done I know as I made self sick with worry. Good luck darling xx
