Second biopsy for breast lump.

Hello,

Im just wondering if anyone has had anything similar. I'm 47 and recently noticed a painless lump in the upper outside of my left breast. I was referred to the breast clinic and had to have a biopsy. I then spent 4 days waiting for the results and was called to say that they needed me to go back in for a further biopsy. At this point I'm starting to worry a little, well a lot honestly!

They said my lump was 4.3cm when I was there and that it could be just a benign lump but as I have a family history of breast cancer they wanted to look into it further.

I'm back for my next appointment a week today and the waiting is stressful.
Im hoping this is just something that they do routinely. Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hello LolaD and welcome to our forum!

It's good that they are being very thorough and that, as you have a family history of breast cancer, they want to have a closer look and investigate things further. I can imagine the wait is very stressful for you though and I hope that your appointment next week goes well and that you find out more.

The best thing to do while you are waiting is to keep busy and distracted and avoid looking things up online as we all know Dr Google is not to be trusted. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
