Biopsy results

Hi Ive just turned 36, I was referred to the breast clinic last week. I was examined, I had an ultrasound, a biopsy and a mammogram. The consultant said she didn't like what she found and it would need to be removed. I'm just waiting on my results from the biopsy. Has anyone else had the same sort of experience?
I know it's not a great start and I'm not building my hopes up for good news, I just can't help thinking the worst.

  • Hi Theo ,

i appericate the update as I know it difficult time as I'm been right where your wife is right now !!!

it will depend on where it is and how big on her left breast to where they just be able to remove the lump or may have to remove the whole breast I'm sure your wife was told this however I am aware after a while things don't go in and there so much to take in she would of been assigned a nurse so maybe ring them Tommrow to clarify

if she has to have the breast removed they will give her the chance once they can to remake it for her and there is a site I can recommend where she can buy bras from which have a pocket in them so she can put a softie into it so no body would know there also a number for them which I rang several time and found them very helpful (nicolajane.com)

they will take a lump note during surgery to see if it gone any further as it would of hit one or two if it has it take about 3 weeks to get an app with the results which you will get in place before you home

mine was also a day surgery to and they maded sure that someone could be with me due to anixty but that down to the team if you make them aware

if if removal she will come out with a drain which will have to emptied once a day they show you how to do as well as give you a leaflet best to use pillows to prop it up on and soft bag to put it in and a cushion to have under your arm as she find it hard to move it up full but was able to do all the day to activies even straighten your hair yes that important to ladies  lol

that be for about a week I found 6 days

I didn't have to have chemo or radio as they did a body scan and it didn't spread I also had to have a hormone tablets to for the next 5 years

I hope you have found this useful anything else I can help with please just say

  • Hi rachel

Hope you wont mind,Can you or someone you know that has say in the past 3/4 months or since the lockdown has had her operation to remove hr left breast.

How has that lady felt|/ and was she able to be normal in say 2/3 month time,by that I mean could this lady able to do all the things before the op.

The reason for this question,is the consultant told us that my wife can come home the same day after the op,but she needs to take things easy.also in the first week/10 days she will have a  nurse coming home to look after her to check all is ok.||||

You can imagine my wife so so so upset/worried.I keep trying to say all will be ok.

can someone who has the op recover Fully in say 2/3 months is that expecting too much.?????????

    Look forward to your response

    Theo

  • Hi Theo

I had the op to remove my right breast I had a drain put in for 7 days which I was able to bath with I put it on a chair and had to put the drain on a pillow for serval nights

I don't understand why there sending in a nurse esp as you be there as I didn't have that

I had arm exercises to do daily as I did find my arm a bit stiff but was still able to straighten my hair as well as a crawling and numbing sensation on the breast that not there but all that is normal where the nerves are starting to re connect

I found about 6 weeks however everyone is different

any more questions please feel free to ask I can only go on my experience x

  • Good Morning Rachel

many thanks for your promt response. You are just brilliant in making things sounds so simple.

Now say after 2/weeks or so how  did you feel, was there any severe pain..assuming you did all the exercises/ate/slept properly..ie managed to get good night sleep,as my wife is a very light sleeper...

Than take me on to a month/2 moths .... how have you felt ,Much better than the 1st week after the op.

can I assume if all goes well with my wife she can try to lead a more Normal Life.!!!1 after say 1 month or 2 month.

    Is That being too ambitiousl

    Theo

  • Hi Theo

no problem at all only glad to help

I did get quite a bit of sniff ness in the arm they took two lympnotes from and some what felt like ants crawling where the breast was removed all normal

I felt better after the drain was removed they should give her a soft bag to put it in and a heart shape cushion to match to put under her arm

I say it took about a month to start to feel normal again as she going to get a breast I would def look at Nichola Jane they will give her a bra however the ones at Nichola Jane have a pocket to put a softie into it as the one they supplied didn't have that and it would of just slipped out you can also buy a softie on there to and it best to buy front fastening bra to start of with I also rang them explained and they gave me serval options of bras

she get arm sniff ness and tingling in the breast area where the nerves are trying to reconnect they say it best if you touch it however there be a dressing on for the first week  and an app to remove the drain when you leave if it get to 30 ml or below before the 7 days they will remove it eariler which doesn't hurt and only takes a few mins

I say about 6 weeks you start to feel ok however I do feel the bras I got me help a lot and after 6 weeks you can move to sliclone ones which are just a bit more weight and feels more like a normal breast

    hope this helps
