Cervix ectropion

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could calm my nerves, for the last 3 months my periods have been very irregular and heavy. My last period I was getting pain in my hip and upper leg which is unusual for me. 2 weeks after my period I was bent over in pelvic agony lasted half an hour and then has just turned into a dull ache though to my back. I've been spotting this past month after intercourse and just through out the day which seems to be becoming redder. I've felt in no mood to eat or become hungry and I've been struggling to poo. I've also felt awfully tired and just generally crap along with getting hot flushes, but I'm anemic and have b12 deficiency. I visited the Dr who had a look and said it was raw and bled on touch, she then had a feel round which has never happened before. She mentioned cervical ectropion, but I've never been on any contraception before? She told me not to worry as I only had my smear in February, but with her saying this has only made me worry more. She's has referred me for colposcopy, and upon taking a closer look at the letter it states I will recieve a call within 14 days for apt, does this mean it is urgent? She said I would have tha area cauterized, but the colposcopy leaflet says that won't be done on the day until biopsies are taken?

I'm very confused and anxious, I'm about to turn 25 me and my husband share 3 daughters with our youngest being 9 months old. Any advice anyone could give me would be a great help! Thankyou. Lyn. (I hope Ive posted this in the correct place) Xx

  • Hello Lyn1995 and a big welcome to our forum!

You've done the right thing to go and see the doctor and it is indeed reassuring that you had a smear in February. I hope you won't have to wait too long for the colposcopy. Try not to worry about the fact that the letter states that you will receive a call within 14 days of your appointment - don't read anything into this and it's great that you will be seen quickly rather than having to wait a long time.  There is information on our website on this page about the colposcopy procedure which I hope will be helpful to you. If you have specific questions about the colposcopy, you can get in touch with our nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our forum who have been in a similar situation before and that they will come and share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi lyn, hope you're doing well, was just wondering if you could provide an update. I'm in a similar situation as you as the minute and naturally my mind keeps drifting to the worse case scenario.
