Scared that I have Breast Cancer at 19

Hi everyone, I am completely new to this but am just looking for some advice on my condition as I am extremely worried and can't think about anything else. It all started two weeks ago when I was in the shower and my left breast started to itch. It continued to itch for around two days and I just put it down to dry skin. A couple of days after I noticed a red patch on my skin that looked like a bite so I called my GP. I was told to apply cream and the rash has now faded to a faint purple mark. I then noticed my nipple had gone slightly flat and I had a slight pain in my collar bone so called GP again. Went in for breast exam and was referred to clinic due to the symptoms I described, even though she said nipple looked normal. Although no lump, there was a lumpy section which she said could be fatty tissue. To make things worse I have found a small mole under my nipple but on the opposite breast to the one with symptoms. Could this all turn out to be a coincidence? The only symptoms I have today are a slightly flat nipple and tenderness on one side and then a small mole on the other. The rash is basically gone. I am only 19 and have convinced my self I have inflammatory breast cancer in both breasts. What else could cause these symptoms? Any advice or personal stories would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance Tegan X

  • Hi tegan ...

Please don't panic ... most lumps 8.5 out of 10 are fine ... my first 4 call backs from mamorgrams were all ok ... and I'd panicked each time ... the younger you are the odds a way better then that ... it's not impossible but very improbable....

They like to test all lumps now as routine ... so nothing is missed ... and they sound a very caring G Ps as I've heard some won't even look at  breast lumps when so young ... so keep your self busy as poss .. and I know you'll prob still worry, but not panic ... let us know how you go ... • Thanks Chrissie! This is really re-assuring to know! Hopefully this will turn out to be the case! Just waiting on clinic appointment now, so will keep you updated X
