Advice

Hi Every1, I've registered on this site in the hope that may be someone might be able to head me in the right direction or advice on what could be really wrong with me, am 36 years old and just before lock down started I was getting a sudden sore throat with a loss of my voice would last up to 5 mins then disapear at first it could come and go every couple of days through the day but the past 3 weeks it's been everyday day time night time, only that I noticed a pea size lump on my jaw bone and it's hard no pain and can be movable, my right side neck is swollen and a lot of diffrent size lumps, but later on in the day yesturday my throat became more swollen but this time from under my chin going down my neck, the right side right under my chin feels like there's something big there and it's feeling like it's being squeezed really tight, *** else is strange is that for about 2 years found it hard to eat food and when I could would only have things like cereal that was really soft and I have to use small spoon and no matter what it happends every time anything goes in my month I have to spit it out due to feeling like I couldn't swollen and was going to chock  I've never been so scared in all my life whats worse is I have really bad phobia of the dentist because I don't like the fact of lieing down and anything or any one putting anything in my month I'd feel that I was going to chock, I would be really great full for anyone's help or advice I know most of u would say go to see GP or A and E only my phobia of chocking all the time, I no I have to go one day sooner than later but before I do would just like to hear anyone's advice thank you all

  • Hi Natalieg4

I also don't like the feeling of having things in my mouth and although I attend the dentist she knows if anything is in my mouth I will gag, nightmare when it comes to xrays. However, I got a different dentist and they spent time with me to overcome my phobia; basically moving my feet/toes while breathing through my mouth - it worked !  I know this is different from your phobia of choking but there will be similar relaxation techniques health professionals can help you with.

You descibe many issues you have and as you know everyone on here will tell you to go see your GP and you should. You could have an infection that needs antibiotics or you could have something more serious, if the latter you need to get it diagnosed and treated. Ignoring this won't make it go away - only treatment will do that.  So my advice is to get an appointment with your GP, tell them of your choking phobia and the issues your having with your throat/nodes etc. Ask them for suggestions to help you be examined that takes into account of your phobia, I'm sure they will be most sympathetic and help you. Please pick up the phone and book a GP appointment.
