Hi everyone! I really don't want to jump to conclusions but for the past 6 months i've been getting increasingly concerned. About 8 months ago i started to experience abnormally long periods. I'm on medication for another health condition and they said irregular are a rare symptom but still a symptom, so I went about my life normally and accepted it as a side effect. The periods started off as 2 weeks long and they were extremley heavy and hard to manage. I also experience bladder infections quite a lot (all of the females in my family do) and they usually go away quickly and with antibiotics.
Fast forward to 3 months ago i stopped taking my medicayion upon the doctors orders to figure out the period problem. They had been getting longer and longer and when i stopped taking my medication, a week later after a weeks break of not being on my period, i started again... and i've been menstruating ever since. I've had pain whilst urinating for a few weeks. And also had pain during intercourse. Because of this I naturally thought oh no I haven't had an STI check in a while maybe thats it? Got tested and it all came back negative.
I'm unsure on what to do. I've been to my doctor and explained all of my symptoms and also explained the weight loss, nausea and lack of energy that could be explained by my previous medication. But she just wants to give me a contraceptive pill to try to stop my bleeding. Has anybody got any advice? I don't want to jump down any scary roads I don't need to be on but i'm becoming uneasy and my GP is not offering any peace of mind.
