Recurring blood in stool

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice because I’m really at my wits end with regards to my stomach issues.  Yesterday I had a bowel movement and noticed that there was some bright red blood on the stool.  Now, I’ve had a history of stomach and bowel issues since 2016, when I had my first colonoscopy and since then I’ve had two more, as well as a sigmoidoscopy.  My second colonoscopy was because of recurring stomach pain and all they found was an internal hemorrhoid. I had a sigmoidoscopy early 2019 because I was having bright red blood with bowel movements and they had found a small polyp.  I had my last colonoscopy around six months ago as a follow up to examine my entire colon to make sure there was no other polyps.  Also I’m 20 so this whole thing started happening when I was 16.

So I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of thorough testing, probably more than most people my age have ever gotten.  I’m just not sure what to do because yesterday I had bright red blood, and I had it again this morning, which has left me concerned and confused as I literally just had a colonoscopy in December and nothing was found.  I really don’t know what to do at this point.  It’s hard enough to see a doctor because of covid, and even if I did, I don’t know how useful it would be because I’ve already had so many tests done.  Any advice on what I should do about this?

  • Hello Mercedes24

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoin ghealth problems that you've been dealing with. It must be hard to have had had this from a young age.

Clearly you are worried about the symptoms that you've had the past few days so I'd suggest that you get in touch with your GP who will be best placed to decide what the best course of action is.

I do hope that you get some answers soon and that things improve.

    Best wishes,
