Support

Hi everyone,

I could really do with good vibes and support today as I am so so anxious!

I had a lump appear on my thigh about two months ago about the size of a we assumed it was a lipoma and with everything going on we promptly forgot it and carried on with our stress filled world!!!

About 4weeks ago it started growing, and fast. It now spans half of my thigh, all of my hip and upto my waist. It's even started creeping round the back now above my butt, giving me a very distinctive dimple/ledge.

My gp took one look and referred under the 2week wait.

The consultant was horrified and referred for MRI.& ultrasound. Neither were conclusive, and they couldn't get the whole growth into the MRI picture window. The only thing they do show is it is not a lipoma and it's not encapsulated.

I spoke with my consultant who isn't happy with with it all and sent me for a CT scan, which he wanted done super fast. I had that Thursday and will get some more results tomorrow which I am bricking.

My named nurse tried to calm me the other day and told me what the options are they have.

1.Its probably not malignant but do a biopsy just to make sure then get the surgeons to remove it.

2.Its lighting up on the scan with contrast so probably is malignant, do a biopsy, remove it then discuss options for treatment.

3.The still don't have a clue so I get a referral to one of the bigwig specialists in Birmingham.

Either way I'm a ball of nerves right now!

  • Hello Zoe,

Those three options are not what anyone would want to be presented with, but at least they all point towards a "next step". So in the meantime see if you can focus on taking it one day at a time, until things become clearer.

Good luck for your next set of results tomorrow.

    Roger.
