Can my lump be breast tissue?

Hi All,

Im 40 yrs old, 6 years ago, 6 months after I had my little girl I was diagnosed with BC. I had a mastectomy, chemo & radiotherapy,  & I'm on tamoxifen now for another 5 years.

I have mammograms every year. I'm due my next 1 in about 5 weeks however I have noticed a lump in my other breast.

I saw my GP 10 days ago and she said she thinks its breast tissue. I cant help feeling its the worst again.

The lump is hard, round and smooth but moves around.

I'm going to have a check up with an consultant tomorrow but I'm in pieces with worry.

Has anyone experienced the same with breast tissue?

  • Hello Mummy_to_Immy

I noticed your post and that you were due to see the breast consultant today about this new lump. How did you get on?

If there's anything that you'd like to speak to one of our nurses about then you're welcome to give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

  • Hi Jenn

Thank you for checking on me.

Yes I saw the consultant today. It was frightening as they found the lump during my examination and saw it on the mammogram so I then had to have an ultrasound. Luckily the doctor confirmed that it was actually a cyst.

I'm extremely relieved at the news but feel I might be struggling mentally. I  cant help but notice every ache and pain now and wonder if its linked to a recurrence.

  • Hello Mummy_to_Immy

Well that's great news! Well done for getting it checked out so quickly.
I think many people here will be able to understand how difficult it can be to move forwards after you've had cancer and lots will have experienced the worry that comes with each ache and pain.

I wonder if you'd find it helpful to talk to one of our nurses for some advice and support?  You're welcome to call them for a chat.

Do post here if you're struggling. I'm sure that some of the community members will pop along to share their tips for moving forwards.

    Best wishes,
