Testing for Ovarian Cancer

I've just turned 48 this month. I've suffered with gynae issues since I had my second child 14 years ago. I had an emergency c section with both of my children. After my 2nd child I developed pain, bleeding, all the usual symptoms of endometriosis.

I've had several lapscropies and a subtotal hysterectomy. I have been to three hospitals without ever having a diagnosis. Finally after my 3rd MRI, finally had a diagnosis of an ovarian cyst and also cysts on my bowel.

Ive had bouts of gastritis and heartburn. Bowel changes and bleeding. For the last two weeks I've been bloated unable to eat and now breathless. I'm awaiting the results of a Ca125 test.

I can't sleep as I'm too uncomfortable and taking lots of pain meds. Im at the point of going to AandE.

I was my dad's main carer and watched him die of bladder cancer last year. My local hospital don't have a great oncology record.

I don't know what to do

  • Hello Billy72,

I am so sorry to hear you have been so unwell. If you feel this is getting too much over the weekend, don't hesitate to go to A and E or ring 999 if you feel you need urgent medical attention. If you are not sure what to do and want some advice, you can also ring 111 and explain the situation to them. Talk to them about all your symptoms in detail and about how uncomfortable you are feeling and how this is affecting your sleep.

I hope you are managing to eat  and drink a little. I am sorry to hear about your dad too - it must have been a heart-breaking experience to watch your dad die of bladder cancer.

I hope you manage to be seen and get some medical advice soon.

    Best wishes,
