24M severe colon/bowel cancer symptoms?

Hi all,

24M, exercise regularly, otherwise fit and healthy. Extremely worried that I am exhibiting severe cancer symptoms.

Around the end of January had a localised painful spot in my abdomen occur suddenly (that is tender to touch). The pain seems to resonate down the RHS of my abs. The pain has been constant for 5 months now. At this stage I did not notice any bowel changes, blood in stool, change in motions etc. GP thought the issue was muscular.

Fast forward 3 months and a visit to A/E with the same issue. The doctors performed an abdominal ultrasound and blood tests - came back all clear. No anemia.

After visiting the hospital I notice I am slightly more constipated than usual... this then progresses into the feeling of incomplete evacuation and needing the loo all the time. I have developed pains around the anus and lower back and buttock ache, also. My bowel habits have changed to every 2 days I feel completely "alien" down there.

GP says unlikely to be CRC because of age and timeline of events. Refers me to sports physio. Another month passes and I'm still experiencing these issues.

I have since gone privately and have booked a colonoscopy and CT scan. I am so so worried of the outcome of these tests, however. It seems that I am exhibiting every single sinister symptom out there and at this point have already diagnosed myself with late stage CRC. I really have given up hope. Right now I'm sat here with severe back ache, RHS tummy pain, change in bowels, sciatica, and lightheadedness.

Any words of encouragement would be fabulous during this time as I really am struggling.

Thank you.

  • Well that's definitely a good sign then

  • Would my abdominal ultrasound suggest no spread of the cancer if I did have CRC? Trying to reassure myself somewhat.

Noticed this morning and over the past few days i have a pain in above the groin areas, as well as the usual throbbing under my right rib. Very worrying signs. I'm almost 100% sure I will get a CRC diagnosis from my colonscopy. Very scared.

  • well take the good from it that your ultrasound was good on what it did see. That's a great start...

    What date is your colonoscopy?

im in the same frame of mind- I'm 100% in my mind I know I have a CRC diagnosis coming my way...

  • Got mine coming up next week. I'm absolutely distraught right now.

  • Hi! Please please please read ALL my previous posts and you will feel instantly reassured. I had all of your symptoms (plus more!) and my colonoscopy (which by the way I don't remember anything about as 'Fentanyl' is amazingggggg lol)  showed only small internal heamorroids and slight inflammation probably caused by food that has disagreed with me! I honestly convinced myself I was dying I was THAT ill. Honestly please please please try not to worry!!! You will be fine! Our tummies are so sensitive and I never knew two small hemaorroids (which I couldn't feel myself) and a swollen butt could cause such dreadful symptoms! The amount of blood I was passing was like something from a horror movie lol. Since my results came back negative my symptoms have vastly improved which means most of it was probs caused by stress due to the worry. I watch what I eat now and if I get blood I don't need to panic as I know I'm just one of those people who is susceptible to piles! Keep us posted & honestly don't worry one bit about the colonoscopy, I went into the theatre room crying my eyes out but as soon as the fentanyl went in I was in pure heaven and just slept the eholw time I have no memory of the procedure at all! :)

    good luck x

  • Thanks for the reply Butterfly,

Great that your colonscopy went well. I'm just lost in a space that, is it my head, or am I really feeling this bad? What worries me is the severe pain I experience everyday. How can it not be cancer when the pain is so constant/bad? I've probably been crying most of the day every single day. I'm just not healthy and not myself any more. I feel a huge regret that I haven't had the colonosocpy sooner. But then at my age it was never suspected? I'm just so worried that I've left it 5 months too late after the pains began.

I'm also worried that I've been to physio and had therapeutic ultrasound because the GP and doctors said it was muscular. I've read this makes tumours grow which is worrying me even more! I feel so much regret. Like I've lost the fight before it's even begun...

  • Hi worriedanon7 just wondering if you have any constipation with them symptom

  • I do yes. Not straining but pooing less frequently. I have every single sinister symptom and no hope, really.

  • Sorry but what are all your symptoms

    - same pain has now developed on lower left rib

    - Persistent lower back ache

    - Change in bowel habits (going every 2/3 days not every day now)

    - Sciatica in both butt cheeks (could this be from bone metastasis?). Tailbone hurts.

    - Constant rectal pressure like something is up there

    - Do not know when I need the loo. Lost the feeling.
