Just received a high-grade dyskaryosis with hpv

Hi everyone this is my first time posting I'm 33 and stupidly until last week had never had a smear test done I have now recieved a letter saying I have hpv and high grade dyskaryosis and have a colposcopy booked for Tuesday 30/6 and I'm petrified that because I haven't had a previous screening that cells may have progressed into cancer as I have no way of knowing how long they have been abnormal for I'm already high risk due to all the women in my family having had cancer of either the cervix or breast also my dad and uncle have had cancer I'm seriously kicking myself for not going sooner has anyone had this before and it has turned out to be cancer I know most of the time it's pre cancerous cells will they be able to see on the colposcopy if it is cancer? I am honestly petrified any advice would be gratefully appreciated thanks

    Hello codyollie123, 

    Welcome to our forum. It is normal to be worried given that this was your first smear test results and it has understandably made you wonder how long you have had these abnormal cells for. The important thing though is that they have discovered the High-Grade Dyskaryosis and the HPV and you can start treatment for it soon.
