Appointment to discuss Smear/biopsy results??

Hi Everyone,

I had a bad smear back in 2016 with CIN3 removed with lletz, following smear 12 months later was ok and  3 weeks ago was admitted to hospital with lower abdo pain and they seen a growth on my cervix.

colposcopy was done with a smear and a cervical biopsy and endometrial biopsy And my gynaecologist was in the hospital at the time so done it all for me and also said the lump was a hard polyp with a cluster around it.

ive been awaiting the results but just had a letter to see her on Monday (her appointments normally are 6-9 months apart) .

I was diagnosed with it PCOS at 18 (mother of 3 so didn't affect my fertility) and also had 6cm cysts in the last few years.

Pain and bleeding after intercourse has been a issue for the last two years and I'm always bloated and referred to a bowel doctor (from the hospital stay) as I'm getting issues there now too.

Sorry for ranting on I'm just wondering if anyone has had a appointment to discuss smear/biopsy results? I didn't expect to get them back so soon with the current covid situation delaying things.

  • Hello Sarah

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these health issues for a while now and that it's meant a stay in hospital recently.

It's understandable that you may be feeling worried about your appointment next week. Try not to read too much into how quickly the appointment has been arranged. Things are working to very different time scales at the moment and it may just be that the Consultant has more space to see you in clinic sooner due to decreased referrals.

It sounds as if you've had quite a bit going on so I do hope that they are able to get to the cause of the problems and that things improve for you soon.

Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
