Hoarseness and swollen lymph node

I'm a 24 year old female who doesn't smoke or drink but have had a hoarse voice since I was around 10. It is so hoarse that I cannot shout and even speaking loud makes my voice crack and sometimes brings pain. I went to the doctor as a child and he told me that some people just have weaker voices. I have started to worry recently as my voice has became more weak and I have a constant need to clear my throat. I also have what I believe to be a large swollen lymph node but it's not really a lump, more like a flat but raised surface it that makes sense?? How likely is it that having a hoarse voice for the majority of my life and these symptoms are cancer?

  • Hi Ally and welcome to the forum.

If the changes you've noticed recently are not normal for you it would be best to book an appointment with your doctor as they'll be the in the best position to investigate and answer your questions. It will also help to put your mind at ease so do get in touch with them when you can.
