Bowel cancer screening - colonoscopy wait time?

Hi I've been told I'm being sent a stool sample pot to do in the post and drop it off to pathology. If it contains blood I will get a colonoscopy ASAP and if it doesn't contain blood I will have to wait longer for the colonoscopy. Does this sound right considering I was referred in the 2 week rule? I'm in a substantial amount of pain. Thank you

  • Hiya!

    im

in the same boat as you Krissy, I have a little girl who is 5.

ive had the start of my symptoms for the past 2 years starting out with lots of mucus and only the past 2 months have the symptoms ramped up, weight loss, thin stools, loss of appetite, right sided pain... my bloods were fine, still waiting on my blood stool sample results but I have made a fuss and I am having a CT on Thursday morning and a colonoscopy (these were all on the fast track 2 ww) you should get it because of your other symptoms. I hope you get seen to and heard, there is nothing worse

  • Thanks so much for the response. I really don't want to have to wait for the colonoscopy. I've lost SO much weight (4 stone) and I've been battling with the healthcare system since January. I've had some black in my stools but it doesn't happen all the time and it's not consistent at all, the main change has been the frequency and consistency and colour of the stools; and I've had some anemic tests and some normal, so I'm not sure there will be any blood present in my stool, but given everything else I really don't think that should stop them doing the colonoscopy due to the severity of the situation

I had a CT scan, it said the evaluation of my bowel was "limited" so they couldn't see anything. There's a few enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen, which of course is making me even more worried! I feel this needs more urgency but because of my age there hasn't been any rush at all

  • Hiya Krissy
