Intermittent Bleeding

Hi all,

I seem to keep getting dismissed by my GP so I was wondering if anyone has had any positive outcomes when they've had similar symptoms to what I do?

I'm a 30 year old male, I keep myself fit and I have absolutely no history of cancer in my family. However, over the last 5 or 6 years I've had intermittent bleeding when I pass a large stool (a large amount of blood to the point where it turns the water red). It's been getting more and more frequent over the last 6 months and has gone from happening once or twice a year for every few weeks.

I've been to the GP 4 or 5 times because of this and not once have they found any evidence of an anal fissure or piles so it leaves me wondering what it could be?

I can always tell when I'm going to bleed as I get a sharp shooting pain just as I'm about to pass the stool. Has anyone else had this and it turn out to be cancer? Or just something minor?

Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum CPCP30 although I'm sorry for the reason you're posting. It sounds very frustrating.

I'm not sure if you've been seeing the same GP each time but if you have more than one doctor at your surgery maybe you could try seeing a different one to get a second opinion.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in this situation will offer their support and advice to you soon.

    Kind regards,
