Colon cancer after a clean colonoscopy

Hi everyone

I'm almost 29 and for around 10 months now I've been having watery stools, I havent had a single formed stool. I'm in pain in my lower abdomen, when going the toliet, lower back pain and blood in my stool. Sometimes I can go up to 10+ times a day never any less than 6. Before this my normal would be 1 formed stool every 3-4 days. I dont remember anything triggering this it just changed 1 day and has gotten worse.

In February I had a colonoscopy which come back clear.

I dont know any family history as I'm adopted

I am still really struggling because my quality of life is practically none existent because I soil myself frequently and scared to go out incase it happens in public

Any advice, anyone had similar? I'm a young mum and terrified of leaving my kids

  • Hello Reccabex,

having a clear colonoscopy should put the cancer worry to bed but does not solve your problem.Did you get any advice on an alternative diagnosis, and are you on any medication to help you with it.

l have had a five year struggle with a wayward bowel that has only just recently decided to rejoin decent society, hurrah, so l am aware just how it takes over your life completely.l went through hell trying different things until l was prescribed the right mediction and worked out the right regime, initially to bring it under control and latterly to maintain it  During this period it gave me a good appreciation of what we take for granted when all is working well, and currently how wonderful to regain equilibrium and my life again.

Given the time this has been going on your bowel will be inflamed and likely why you are seeing blood just from the raw tissue of your bowel lining, and the pain in your abdomen could be a reflection of this or excessive trapped wind.

You have two issues, find out the cause, but the pressing issue is to address the effects and settle the bowl. For the frequency l was prescribed loperimide, for the  watery bloat colestyramine powder that binds up the excess bile that iiritates the lining of the bowel and triggers the whole thing.initially it was fire fighting with the amount of tablets and powders to get control ,but now it is one a day of each to maintain normality.

l  have no way of knowing your diagnosis but l hope you can find a solution that works for you, and realise that your problem does not have to involve cancer,

                            good luck,

                                             David
