I saw no one had replied and just wanted to reach out.

You will get your results of the biopsies and if required they will discuss with you what exactly you have been diagnosed with and a treatment plan.

I know it is terrifying at this stage but

I found that once you know what you are dealing with it is 100% easier, and you know exactly what is coming and when. And things move fast I know in some areas there has been a delay with all this covid carry on but things are slowly getting back to normal.

Are you going on your own on friday?

Please dont worry...the breast care nurses are fantastic and are there to answer any questions you have or if you missed anything in the appointment to fill you in.

I went to every appointment on my own and there support was fantastic.

I was diagnosed on the 10th february and had a right sided mastectomy on the 21st may and on the 15th of june given the all clear and no further treatment.

Believe me I have been on an emotional rollercoaster 

I am 40 with 3 children the youngest being 2.

I feel like the consultant already told me I had breast cancer last week, and I've obviously been fearing the worst since then. 
 

my husband is coming with me on Friday. I admire you went on your own. They told me last week I'm best having someone there as they'll be a lot of information. 
 

How are you feeling now? And with the children around too? I have 2 kids. The first is 9 and my youngest is 2. 
my heads just so messed up at the moment. I don't even understand the different types of breast cancers.

Hi Laura, 

I actually feel fine...after the mastectomy I can honestly say I have only taken 2 paracetamol in 4 weeks....I am amazed at what they have done, what I expected and what I am left with is 2 totally different things....I think you just automatically think the worse.

I had an expander fitted so to look at me you wouldnt think I had anything done, i only have a 4 inch scar and no nipple. 

I have to go back in 6 months to start reconstruction

I think I have been really lucky x

 if surgery is mentioned make the right decision for yourself..they wanted me to have a lumpectomy with radiotherapy afterwards. Take your time x

Try and stay positive it really helps they do wonderful things these days

Once they did the biopsy and mammogram in May I was told that although results were not in, it looked most likely it was cancer and to bring someone with me at next appointment. For the next few days it was just worry, although it was confirmed at the next appointment the hospital and Macmillan nurses were amazing. The surgeons spoke about the results about options lumpectomy, mastectomy, having an MRI to determine exact size and checking the rest of the breast. I had my surgery on the 2nd June. It is not news we want to hear, but there is something they can do. Worry is something we have I'm 37..but once you know it is about how to deal with it so that you get better. 

I had a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I didnt need much for pain relief.. a few paracetamols after. I have to have a node clearance as one of the nodes came back positive. But the main thing is it has been found, and it is out and the next steps are to keep it away. Based on results they will inform what is next.
