Breast Clinic referral appointment tomorrow, how long?

Hello,

I'm a 20 year old female and have been referred to the local hospital's breast clinic to double check a lump. I have very naturally lump breasts and the doctors weren't concerned but did it as a precaution.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect and just wondered if anyone knew how long it'd be? I have work commitments in the afternoon (it's at 10am) so I'm just a bit worried. Any other info/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  • Hi

I had my appt on Friday and was there for 3 hours. But that's as my appt wasn't straightforward. I ended up having 4 mammograms, ultrasound and biopsies too as my lump was suspicious. On my letter it did say it could take upto 3 hours.
Good luck with your appt :)

  • I had my appointment last Thursday.  The letter said to allow 2 hours.  I was there for about 2 hours 30 minutes.

I had an initial consultation and examination followed by a mammogram and then an ultrasound.  During the ultrasound I was told that the lump was probably nothing significant but they would carry out a biopsy to confirm.

I had a further short consultation with the doctor.
    Good luck

  • Hi, I had my appointment last Friday, I was in for about an hour and a half, that was for an initial appointment with the consultant, then he sent me for an ultrasound and I had two biopsies then back in for another chat with the consultant. Hope your appointment goes well and you get good news,
