I went to my GP a couple of months after noticing a lump under my armpit. I didn't think much if it initially - just assumed I'd pulled something doing a home workout. It wasn't even noticeable unless I raised my arm above head height, and given my general good health I hadn't considered the possibility of anything sinister.
I was in with my GP for a very short time and he had decided it needed further investigation. A few days later the hospital invited me in with an appointment just a few hours after they had called me, for an ultrasound.
In the ultrasound appointment they decided they wanted to do a biopsy there and then because the lump was the lymph node. Suddenly everything in my head went into panic mode, and I've potentially got a 3 week wait for results. I've supported Cancer charities in the past having seen a friend of my youngest son beat ALL, but never imagined I'd be in a position where I'm scared I may have it.
Waiting is terrible. How do you deal with it?
