Very worrying mole

Hello I have a mole on my hip ( which hasn't always been there) it has  bled before ( maybe rubbing on jeans) and been crusty it has changed colour shape and size .

i have been to the go twice and to be fair they couldn't be less interested instead offering me antidepressants.

i have severe undiagnosed pain in my hip area where the mole is which is why I was at the doctors originally and I was basically told I am suffering with anxiety however I can't get this off my mind does any body have any thoughts on this mole.

im not quite sure how you upload a pic so it's my avatar lol

thanks in advance :)

  • Hi,

I'm afraid your photo was removed as it isn't allowed on the forum - this is because no one on here can diagnose what the problem may be.

I'm sorry that you have this anxiety and you don't think your GP is taking you seriously. If your GP practice has more than one GP, make an appointment to see a different one. Ask if any of the GPs are trained in dermatology - some practices have a GP thats specialises in this & they are the best one to see. You are entitled to a second opinion. At the appointment only explain that the mole has changed in several ways and you want it checking - don't mention your hip pain as I don't think it will be associated with your mole - moles don't usually cause any pain.

If you don't have much luck or there isn't another GP you can see, I can only suggest, if you can afford it, that you pay for a consultation with a private dermatologist. Hopefully your mole is fine & your mind can be put at rest by a proper examination. 75% of moles checked out are benign so the odds are in your favour that yours will be too. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie (melanoma patient)
