Hi all, I've had a growth under my eye which has recently changed shape, grown and has bled on one occasion. I'm waiting to see a dermatologist, roughly how long will I have to wait?
It all depends on whether your GP has referred you under the 2 week rule or as non urgent. Under the 2 week rule patients were being seen around the 10 - 14 day mark. However, because Covid means less people are seeing their GPs & being referred, referrals are being seen quicker - within about a week. If non urgent, the wait averages 4 months but again they may get seen quicker if there are fewer referrals at the moment.
Thank you for the reply. It was an urgent referral and photos have been sent too. I'm. Hoping it's nothing sinister but when reading about different skin cancers mine is very similar to basal cell carcinoma. I'm. Hoping i can get seen ASAP x
Basal cell is easily treatable so hopefully, once removed, you will have no further problem. Because of it's location they may try a cream first &, if that doesn't work they will surgically remove it. My dad has had 2 removed - one on forehead by surgery 10 years ago and one beside his eye by cream 3 years ago. He's had no further problems. Thankfully bcc don't spread internally but they need removing as they can spread on the skin's surface.
